Packaging Tips

Our Kiwi Pak packaging range is specifically designed for sending your parcels throughout New Zealand. But to ensure that they get to their destination in the condition you sent them we need a little help from you…

Our Pak's

Packs are a great low cost solution for items that are not delicate and do not have sharp pointy edges. Remember that they are just made out of plastic, so without very good internal packaging they are not suitable for items such as electronics.

When packing your items to send with us, please remember to check our Prohibited Items page. This provides a list of items that our service is not designed to transport, and items which can be dangerous for us to send.

We've taken care of the outside... but the rest is up to you. Here are some pointers for packaging your items.

Pack it

  • Place bendable items like cards or documents between two strong pieces of cardboard.
  • Don't send delicate or sharp items in the pack
  • Do not overload the packs. They are designed to carry a full 25kgs, but are not intended to be stretched or warped as this can cause the plastic to tear or rupture.

Address it

Now, it may seem a little bit silly, but believe it or not, most of our undelivered freight is due to incorrect addressing or labelling. The best tips we can give for you to help both of us out are:

  • Ensure that the address on the item is correct and an exact copy of the one supplied to you by the receiver. Additionally, a contact phone number for the receiver recorded with the address is always handy.
  • Make sure that only a physical address is on the item as we do not deliver to P.O Box numbers.
  • It is always a good idea to include your name, return address and phone number on the item in the unlikely case that it cannot be delivered and the receiver cannot be contacted.
  • Another good one is to try to get a business address for delivery, as typically there will be more of a chance that someone will be present at the address to accept the parcel.
  • Also, if the item can be delivered without a signature required and can be left in a safe place at the receiving address, you can write “ATL” (Authority to Leave) on the package. This will instruct the courier to leave the item in the letterbox or a safe place should the receiver not be home.

Seal it

Pull the plastic seal away and seal the pack up
